Carolina Hoofprints utilizes the best horses available to provide education, personal growth activities and therapy for children, adolescents and adults with all types of abilities and disabilities.
Due to the fact that Carolina Hoofprints is a relatively young organization, our current mission is to support existing programs and facilitate activities within these programs rather than to actually own horses or to establish a new program.
To do this, we contract with outstanding programs who offer high quality services that best meet the needs of our target population. North Carolina Personal Ponies, Ltd., as well as Jake’s Flat Farm, are examples of such programs operating within our community. |
The Horses...

Firecon (left) and Andee preparing for the Halter Class during our summer horse show. Firecon is a 20 year old Russian Egyptian Arabian with ten years of experience with therapeutic riding. He was Jake's Flat Farm's very first therapy horse.

Tuff being ridden by Rachel, one of our volunteers. Tuff, a 25 year old registered Percheron, has lived at Jake's Flat since 1999. He weighs a ton & is the local rock star due to his personality and yard long dreadlocks. He was recently painted by Vae Hamilton, a local artist. Tuff does a lot of visits and therapy. We hope to include him in our therapuetic riding program this summer.

Dugan (left) & Tuff (right) grazing next to the barn. Dugan weighs about 1/6 as much as Tuff and is only a third as tall. Nevertheless, they remain best friends and present a shining example of diversity in action.
Carolina Hoofprints assists in the support of four ambassador PPL ponies. These tiny Shetlands belong to PPL, a national non- profit organization whose mission is to provide access to ponies for children and adolescents either with disabilities or terminal illness. |

Valentine and rider being led by volunteer. Valentine is a miniature horse born on Valentine's Day in 1997. She has been at Jake's Flat Farm for 3 years.

In addition to local volunteers and Jake’s Flat Farm, Carolina Hoofprints currently assists in the care and upkeep of these tiny equines so that they are available to children in our community which is a substantial commitment of time effort, and finances.
